There’s now a helicopter on Mars but that’s not what dropped my jaw. NASA/JPL just successfully completed EDL (Entry, Descent, Landing) for Perseverance. A bright moment in the space program — to put a vehicle this size on Mars. The EDL is also known as the 7 minutes of terror as it takes 11 minutes to get a signal back to earth so when entry data starts to arrive, the craft has been on the surface for 5 minutes, successful or not.

I certainly enjoyed hearing they received a call from a president that appreciates science but the one item that I did not expect was about how members of the team working from home could roam the JPL office and labs by logging into and driving a robot on the campus. Serious shade on ordinary Zoom calls!
